Lawrence K. Jackson

Lawrence K. Jackson, age 96, of Gamaliel, passed away Wednesday, May 26, 2010 at the

Monroe County Medical Center in Tompkinsville.

He was born in Monroe County, KY on June 1, 1913 to the late Winton Blaine Jackson and Mary Belle Guinn Jackson. He was a retired Rural Mail Carrier, taught school at Ebenezer, Crowe and Sugar Grove, a U.S. Army WW II Veteran, taught Va School, a member of the Gamaliel Baptist Church where he served as Sunday School Superintendent and Training Union Director, taught Sunday School for over 30 years, and the widower of Zelma Proffitt Jackson, who died January 18, 2004.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law: Mary Ann and Dale Fudge of Gamaliel, 3 grandchildren: John, Julie and Jill and 3 great grandchildren: Sydney, Kendall and Matthew.

In addition to his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a brother: Basil Glen Jackson and a sister Inez Lou Jackson.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 28 at 1 PM at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel in Gamaliel with burial to follow in the Beautiful Home Cemetery. Military rites will be performed at graveside by DAV Chapter 20 of Glasgow.

Friends may call at Strode’s Gamaliel Chapel after 4 PM on Thursday.

Memorial contributions are suggested to the Gamaliel Baptist Church Building Fund.
