Burns Funeral Home was founded in 1941 by Mr. Harry L. Dhonau. Mr. Dhonau who had been working with his cousin
at the Hammons Funeral Home purchased the Italian style property in 1941. Mr. Dhonau operated the funeral home and ambulance
service until his death in April of 1983. In June of 1983 Doug and JoElla Wallace purchased the funeral home.
The Wallaces operated the funeral home until January of 2005 when they sold it to Christopher L. Burns. The Wallaces
did extensive remodeling over the years and added a larger chapel with a drive thru carport and smoking and non-smoking lounges.
Christopher L. Burns a native of Louisville, Kentucky purchased the funeral home from the Wallaces in January of 2005.
Christopher L. Burns a second generation funeral director has been around the funeral profession all of his life. His
father the late T. Lawrence Burns was a funeral director for 42 years in Louisville. He was a former instructor at the
old Kentucky School of Embalming, past president of the Funeral Directors Association of Kentucky, and a past member of the
Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors of Kentucky. Christopher began his career in funeral service after graduating
from high school in 1983. He is a graduate of Mid-America College of Funeral Service and the old Bishop David High School
in Louisville. Christopher is the youngest of six children and the second in his family to folow his father's footsteps.
His brother Michael is a funeral director in Louisville also. After working in Louisville for several years and tired
to the hustle and bustle of city life, Christopher worked in Beaver Dam, Kentucky for ten years before purchasing the Wallace
Funeral Home in Cloverport, Kentucky.
