George Kinsman

On March 8, George H. Kinsman, age 82, high school instructor and principal, died peacefully at his home in Delta. He was surrounded by family and friends. His last words were those of the hymn, "Amazing Grace". He was born in Adrian, Michigan on July 30, 1927, the second of five sons to his parents, Charles Kinsman and Mable (Gillespie) Kinsman. Mr. Kinsman devoted his life to teaching young people. He was a teacher and principle at Lyon High School and a teacher at Traverse City Senior High School in Traverse City, Michigan. Following his retirement and the loss of his beloved wife, Ruby (Lichtenwald) Kinsman, he moved to Honolulu, Hawaii. There he continued his life long dedication to education at Saint Anthony's Academy on Maui and in accounting programs for adults at Kaimuki High School. For many years he was a member of Unity Church in Honolulu, St. Johns Christian Church and Wauseon Masonic Lodge #349. Ever friendly, loyal friend and thoughtful of those he did not know, George Kinsman lived his life in keeping with the precepts of the Lord's Prayer and with the words of the Prophet Micah 6:8: “Do justice, love mercy and walk humbly with God.” George was an avid gardener with one of the greenest thumbs in the county. He took great pride in his tomatoes and his sun flowers won awards at the Fulton County Fair. He was also an avid reader. Mr. Kinsman took a great interest in genealogy and traced his family roots to the Kinsman estate in England. He was an enthusiastic and intrepid world traveler, visiting countries ranging from Asia, South America, Europe New Zealand and Australia. In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Kinsman was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Kinsman Jr., Floyd B. Kinsman; infant brother, Clarence and infant sister, Helen. He is survived by his brothers, Robert (Judy) Kinsman of Delta and Merlin (Sue) Kinsman of Archbold; and many loving nephews, nieces and friends. Friends will be received from 2-8 PM on March 11, 2010 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta; where a funeral service for Mr. Kinsman will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday. Pastor Adam Just will be officiating. Gerald R. Neyrinck Sr.

Gerald R. Neyrinck Sr., age 72, of Delta, passed away, March 1, 2010 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He drove truck as a young man hauling cattle and produce for his father.  Jerry joined Roadway Express in 1968, retiring in 1999.  He never lost his passion for trucking and after retirement was able to fulfill his dream of two manning to California with friends several times. Jerry is survived by his wife, Eileen; daughters, Jane and Heather; sons, Rob and Ray; six grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and brothers, Frank and Dick. Services will be private for the family. Arrangements have been entrusted to Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta.

Daniel “Dan the Man” Steinmiller

Daniel “Dan the Man” Steinmiller, age 27, of Toledo and Delta, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at his Toledo home. He was born in Toledo on November 15, 1982 to the Tom Steinmiller and Linda (Curry) Steinmiller who survive. Daniel was a 2001 graduate of Delta High School and had attended the Academy of Technical Studies in Toledo. He was an avid collector of movies, comic books and lizards, of which he had 4 Geckos and a bearded dragon. “Dan the Man” will always be remembered for his loyal and outgoing personality; which led him to be a favorite among kids and a driver for meals on wheels.  Along with his parents, he is survived by his sister, Courtney Steinmiller of Delta; his loving nephew, Noah and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends will be received on Friday, March 5, 2010 from 10:00 – 11:30 AM at the Delta Assembly of God, 405 W. Main St., Delta, Ohio; where a funeral service for Daniel will begin at 11:30 AM.  Pastor Randy Trowbridge will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta. Those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to the Delta Assembly of God’s Church Building Fund in his memory.  Arrangements have been entrusted to Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta.

IN MEMORY OF:
George Bechstein

George H. Bechstein, age 80, of Delta, passed away at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo late Friday night, February 26, 2010.  He was born on April 14, 1929 in Liberty Center, OH to the late Herbert George Bechstein and Bertha Pauline (Hoffer) Bechstein.  George was co owner and operator of Joe Bechstein & Sons Excavating.  Besides driving and operating excavating equipment, he found enjoyment in puzzles and building model trucks and cars.   George enjoyed watching NASCAR and was usually a fan of whom ever his sons where cheering on. Left to cherish his memories are his wife of 61 years, Margaret (Mull) Bechstein; sons, Larry (Kathy) Bechstein of Wauseon, Bob (Julie) Bechstein of Delta, Gary (Pam) Bechstein of Delta and Jeff (Stacy) Bechstein of Swanton; brothers, Dale (Donelda) Bechstein of Delta, Norman (Edna) Bechstein of Wauseon and Bruce (Joanne) Bechstein of Wauseon; seven grandchildren and one great granddaughter.  Friends will be received one hour prior to the service from 1-2 PM on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at the Church of the Master United Methodist, 229 W. Chestnut St., Wauseon; where a memorial service celebrating George’s life will begin at 2:00 PM.  Pastor Ben Sheaffer will be officiating.  Interment will be at a later date at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta. In lieu of flowers, those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Church of the Master United Methodist in George’s memory.  Arrangements are entrusted with Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109 in Delta.

Kim A. Plassman

Kim A. Plassman, age 55, of Wauseon passed away unexpectedly at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo on Friday morning, February 26, 2010.  He was born on January 18, 1955 to Otis Plassman and Kathleen Hefflinger.  He was a 1974 graduate of Wauseon High School.  Kim worked at German Village in Wauseon and later at the former Doc Holidays Restaurant in Wauseon  He survived by his father, Otis (Joyce) Plassman; mother, Kathleen Hefflinger; siblings, Karen (Gary) Kindle, Tina (Greg) Kiester, Janine Jacobs, Todd Plassman Sr., Patrick Brogan, Sherry Brogan, Otis (Tonya) Plassman, Jamie (Brad) Myers, Kelly Plassman, John Lemley, Jay (Janet) Lemley, Jack Lemley, Jill (Kim) Demaline, Julie (Steve) Golden and Linda (Jeff) Skillings; and many loving nieces and nephews.  Friends may call from 5-8 PM on Monday, March 1, 2010 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109, Delta; and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, from 10-11 AM.  A funeral service celebrating Kim’s life will be held at 11:00 on Tuesday at the funeral home. IN MEMORY OF:
Earl L. Whitmire

Earl L. Whitmire, age 90, of Delta, passed away early Monday morning, February 22, 2010 at the University of Toledo Medical Center. He was born in Delta on September 28, 1919 to the late Reuben Whitmire and Ethel (Saul) Whitmire.  He was a 1939 graduate of Delta High School where he was proud to have played running back for the football team.  Earl was a WWII Veteran having served with the U.S Army Air force.  Earl was a member of the 460th Bomber Group where he was a gunner on the B-24 plane.  On October 9, 1943 he married Virginia Wiley and she survives.  Earl entered the family milk business and was responsible for the hauling and delivery of the milk.  He was a member of the Delta United Methodist Church, a 60 year member of the Delta American Legion Post #373 and Fulton Lodge #248 F&AM; where he was a 50 year member and served as a past Master.  Earl was also a 60 year member of the Aetna Grange.  Some of his fondest hobbies where riding mules, racing dogs but most of all was coon hunting.  Earl was also very proud of his time served with the American Legion “Staccatoes” drill team in the 1950’s which won numerous state and national championships.  In addition to his wife of 66 years, he is survived by his children, Beverly (David) Seeburger of Adrian, MI, Kenneth E. (Erna) Whitmire of Tampa, FL and Dennis Dean (Sue) Whitmire of Savanna, GA; eight grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.  Earl was preceded in death by his sisters, Nola Jean Spiess and Annabelle Hoffman and brother-in-law, Kenneth M. Wiley.  Friends may call on Thursday, February 25, 2010 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy. 109, Delta from 2-4 and 6-8 PM with an American Legion Service at 7:30 PM immediately followed by a Masonic Service.  A funeral service celebrating Earl’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday at the funeral home.  Pastor Bill Bauman will be officiating.  Interment will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta.  Those wishing a show of sympathy are asked to consider contributions to the Delta American Legion, 5939 St. Hwy 109, Delta, Ohio 43515 or the Delta United Methodist Church, 101 Northwood Dr., Delta, Ohio 43515 in his memory.

Helen M. Harris

Helen Mae (Sieren) Harris, age 87, died following a brief illness on Saturday, February 6, 2010 at the home of her daughter in Upland, CA; where she and her husband Earl have been residing since September.  Helen was born in Toledo, Ohio on October 12, 1922 to Lawrence S. Sieren and Margaret M. (McGaharan) Sieren.  The family including older brothers Lloyd (Bud) and Robert moved to Delta in 1932.  Helen graduated from Delta High School in the class of 1940.  On February 12, 1944 Helen was married to Earl Harris also of Delta.  In 1953 Helen was elected to the office of Clerk of the Council of the Village of Delta and Clerk of the Board of Public Affairs.  Helen served as an elected official and employee of the Village of Delta from Jan.1, 1954 until her retirement in May of 1986. In addition to Clerk-Treasurer she served as deputy clerk, tax commissioner and Village Administrator.  Helen was a member of St Caspar's Catholic Church and a volunteer at Fulton County Health Center. She was an active member of the American Legion Auxiliary for 62 years during which time she held many offices.  Helen is survived by husband Earl, daughters Phyllis Rey Saeger (Jim) and Barbara Tuckerman (Blair).  She has four grandchildren; David and Marc (Jennifer) Rey and Adam and Erin Tuckerman, two great granddaughters Nayeli and Alani Rey. Since moving to California Helen was able to enjoy much time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren all of whom reside in Southern California.  Friends and family will be welcomed for visitation from 5-8 PM on Friday, February 12, 2010 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy 109 in Delta; with an American Legion Auxiliary Service at 7:30 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Caspar Catholic Church on Saturday at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Greenlawn Cemetery in Delta. Those wishing an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Delta American Legion Auxiliary, 5939 St Hwy 109, Delta, Ohio 43515 in her memory.  Memory remains part of the heart forever.

Sharon (Keller Harmon) Boger

Sharon (Keller Harmon) Boger passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, February 6, 2010. Born in Toledo, Ohio, she was nearly a life long resident of Delta Ohio. She worked in various positions from bank teller to school secretary until she began to work for the Ohio Turnpike in the late 1970’s. She enjoyed good friends, family gatherings, Broadway musicals, going to the lake and traveling. Predeceased by her daughter, Kim Seigneur and brother, Owen “Jim” Keller, she is survived by her husband, Ralph, children, Cyd (Joseph) Laurel, and Jef (Deanna) Harmon, son-in-law, Al Seigneur, grandchildren Ashlee (Jason) Marshall, Austin Seigneur, Emily Laurel, Evan, Jacob, and Benjamin Harmon; step children, Susan (Phil) Pike, Beth (Don) Rupp, Ralph (Sandy) Boger Jr., Shirley (Keith) Neiderhiser and Laura (Mark) Bronson; step grandchildren and great grandchildren. She will be remembered for her quick wit and love of staying current. A memorial service celebrating Sharon’s life will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St. Hwy 109 in Delta; where friends will be received one hour prior to the service from 10:00 – 11:00 AM. Anna Verhesen D.D will be officiating.  Interment will follow at 2:00 PM at Calvary Cemetery in Toledo. Jerold L. Murry Sr.

Jerold L. Murry Sr., age 61, of Delta, passed away Tuesday evening, January 19, 2010 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born on October 19, 1948 in Wauseon to the late Weldon D. Murry and Louise (Glenn McQuillin) Murry-McQuillin. Jerold graduated from Bedford High School in 1968.  On November 2, 1968 he married Donna Sue Bailey and she survives.  Jerold was a  truck driver; often traveling with his wife, Donna. He was a member of the Delta Church of Christ. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son in 1997, Jerold L. Murry Jr.; sister, Arla Clark and grandson, Jerry Lee Murry. Left to cherish his memories are his wife, Donna; son, Rocky (Angela) L. Murry Sr. of Delta; brother, Danny (Connie) Murry of Winameg; and grandchildren, Rocky L. Murry Jr., Brandon R. Murry, Summer A. Murry and Caleb M. Losie.  Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 PM on Friday, January 22, 2010 at Barnes Funeral Chapel, 5825 St Hwy 109 in Delta; where a funeral service celebrating Jerold’s life will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday.  Pastor Joel Cassetto will be officiating.  Interment will follow at 2:00 PM on Saturday at Toledo Memorial Park.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the benevolence of the family.
